We're all excited about the church service at North Rose United Methodist Church tomorrow at 9:30. We have lots of blessings to share (and a special surprise).
Thanks to each and every one of you for your support and prayers.
Looking forward to next year's trip! Save the dates: Sat. Aug. 7 to Sat. Aug. 14.

Friday by Steve Guthrie
Whew............... :) It's Friday. Mission complete, Beam us home Scotty! Ok, we will drive the 13 hours. What a wonderful week we have had. We had a relaxing Friday even though everyone worked at something all day long. Some worked on the deck, Some finished the #2 roof project. Some worked in the Thrift shop, some went with other groups, some we have no idea where they went, but I think they are all back. We went to the closing church service and had Communion. The closing service is a time of sharing where some tell of how they have been touched this week. Most all the other groups have left for home only a small group remains here with us. All the kids are mingling about absorbing the last few hours till we all depart (hopefully about 6:30 am). We were joined this week by a family of 3 from Ohio that had come to Henderson to experience what the area has to offer. It was a great experience to have them with us, and look forward to our next encounter. It is so amazing that all people come to Henderson for many different reasons, but come away with the very same feeling of............ Sorry can't explain it, it is something you have to experience it. Good Night, See you all Sunday at Church for the super special Henderson mission trip service, and a Power Point Program the PD has been working on alllllllllllllllllllllllllll Week. Hope he finishes be 9:30 Sunday.

wednesday - was our "rest day" well it was suppoust to be, really it was a day of torture. we went on a 5 mile cannoing trip, we spent more time in the car then we did on the water. It took a long time and wasn't one bit of fun.
thurday - (today) we finished our project and said our goodbyes to herman. It was really sad and i wish we could stay just to see him. He is so nice and i will really miss him dearly. I can't wait to come back next year and see him again, it will be good to go back and visit him. He is worried that he will not make it to next year, he has some cancer on his head and is not sure if he will makeit throw the year. Now that his roof is done and doesn't drip he has all the more hope. When there wasn't much point of all the group being there we would talk to him and he told us some really cool but sad storys.
since our group finished our first project we will be finishing the deck, some of us anyways. I will be helping cut soup labbels since there will be not enough tools or space for everyone. I can't wait. Everyone is leaving tomorrow so we will have the dorms all to ourselfs. i have a good feeling that its going to be an extra fun time.
well time for some bannana grams and play cards, turning in for the night.... more tomorrow...
god bless you all..

Tuesday evening by Steve Guthrie
Good Evening, O what a wet day. The day started out by us driving to the work site in a drizzle. when we pulled into the site it started to rain. We sat in the van for 20 minutes to wait out the rain. it did stop for a bit so we started working. The drizzle stopped and we got busy. we loaded the roof with all the workers except the 2 ground crew. 30 minutes later we heard it coming. Thunder in the distance was coming fast. I explained to all on the roof that they had 2 choices, #1 leave the roof area now, #2 Wait 5 minutes and calmly leave the roof area in the rain. Needless to say all chose to stay on the roof as the rain came. Even the ground crew came to the roof to be on the roof as the rain moved in. We all got very wet, now 10 people had to wait their turn on the ladder in the rain. We waited 30 minutes but the rain did not stop so we left the site to come back for lunch. The rain did not stop so we settled in to the dorm for the afternoon. "took a nap" The rain did stop around 2, and some of us drifted off to the work sites to make up for some lost time. Others enjoyed the time off. "Pastor Dan played on the Computer" Something about preparing for evening devotions? We are looking forward to the Wednesday Canoe trip. Blessings to all our followers at home.
rachel guthrie , tuesday day 2
Tuesday, where to start? Today was one of the better days, kinda. The day started out with rain rain, rain and more rain. When we got to our work site it was raining so we thought we could sit in the car picking out songs for our worship service we are leading while we wait for the rain to die down some. After a while we didn't think it was going to stop raining so we all jumped out of the van and started to get to work. We got a little down and it started to rain harder, we all were forced off the roof by my dad, we hung out in the van for a little while till in died some more, once it did back to the roof it was!! when we got up there we were safe for a while, no rain at first then just a little mist. I think i can speak for all of us when i say this but today we have seen one of the best things. We heard thunder in the nearing but kept working , a little while later down the road you could see the poring rain, the rain was moving toward us. It was like a parade coming down the road, you hear it first then you see it and it's one of coolest things. everyone was on the roof at the time, my dad then said, if you do not want to get wet get off the roof and duck and cover fast. We all looked at him with a look like " why would we stop for rain ". no one got off the roof and we just kept working like nothing was happening. The rain was bad so dad again made us get off the roof, after a little while we got back up on the roof. third times a charms? but i guess not always...10 mintues later ryan was yelling at us after dad told us to get off the roof because we kept screwing in screws instead of getting down. We went back to lunch and layed around for a little while.
Around 1:30 or 2 my dad, me, kendra, harlie and delicia went back to the site to work once the sun was back out and nicer the before. Herman helped us and gave us caps to wear because the sun was hot and he didn't want us burn. when we were almost done for the night he brought out some cola's for us! it was very nice and i loved to be able to talk to him today. we got so much work done and i can't wait to go back to finish.
We all can't wait till tomorrow for our day off of fun!
thank you all again

rachel guthrie monday day 1
hey everyone, i'd like to begin by thanking everyone once again to helping us being able to come on this trip. It's very appreciated and i wish you could all be here to excperience what we do, you never fuller understand unto you are down here doing it for yourself. I wish you could all be here with us.
Day 1 - saturday : well the ride was great besides that fact that the van i was in had no air... being in a van with the same people all day crowded and sweating isn't the best, but totally worth it. When we finally got to the church we were staying at we got to finally get out of the van and walk around, we had a nice dinner and a devotions for the day.
Day 2 - sunday : We appreciate greatly the nice breakfest from the church memebers and the good service, the service was very nice. After the service we got back on the road. Another few hours yet again with no air! When we got here it was nice to get here and get settled in. Playing cards, eatting dinner and socialishing the rest of the night. A goods night sleep was nice.
Day 3 - Monday : Today we got our projects assigned. We have mainly three projects, but i think we will be done with both by tomorrow afternoon it not then by thursday and lunch! Right now there are two main projects, we split into two groups. The group i am in is with my dad (steve), pastor dan, ryan , diana ( a group or three that we picked up she is the mother, her daughter was also in our group, Remy) myself, delicia, amelia, rachel t, kendra, ralph, josh ( who is friend's grandson) crissy. It was a nice combination of older/comebackers and new people on the team. When we arrived at our site we meet our home owner, he was nice and happy that we were there to help, a team was there before and put siding up. When we got there we got right to work, everyone got up on the roof and starting pounding and screwing.... thankfully god has us in his hands and no one has gone threw the roof...yet!! Today was deffenatally an interesting and frustarding day. Once we got working we ran into the problem of the screw gun battiers running dead, with an hour and a half to lunch we were down to one screw gun, so there wasn't much for anyone to day, a lot of people had nothing to do other then sit around, with is very boring to alll but once in a while we all have to do it so we all have a chance to work on the house. Once we got back from lunch the drills were all charged and we got right back to working. After about an hour or so we staring running out of screws, this being a problem. Our work site is about 15 minuets from our dorms/the settlement. There is a hardware store about 5 minuets from our site that provides everything with the settlement. My dad, diana , remy and i jumped in the van for a drive to the store. Once we got back there were no more problems beside a minor one. Our new friend and help remy got stung by an inscet of somesort and is having and allerigic reaction. she is fine and drugged up now just resting for the time being. Everyone had a good day. It was very hot so we are hoping that it is a little cool tomorrow but we are lucky enough that our site is somewhat in the shade compared to some of the past years.
We are all hoping you are keeping us in your prays. we are having a good time and can't wait to tell everyone about everything when we get back to the state.
Thank you again so very much.
keeping looking for updates on blogs from other people and from more about other days.

Monday evening post from Steve Guthrie
Good Evening, hello from KY. It has been a great couple days so far. well, if you don't take into account that the AC is not working in our Van. We made it to Henderson Settlement Sunday afternoon and everyone settled in well. There are not many other missionaries here this week so there is a lot of room for us at the Campus, and very short lines for meals. We have split into 2 groups to start. Each group has a roof to put on at 2 different locations. We anticipate being done with the roof jobs Tuesday, maybe a little finish up work Thursday morning. We will be taken Wednesday off to go on a Canoe trip. Thursday all 21 of us will be working on a deck here on campus. Roof Project #1 with my team, A trailer that was sided by a prior group and the rain is coming off the roof behind the siding. It is our task to put on a Metal roof with a 6" overhang so the water will not be going behind the siding. It was extremely hot today, as I sat on the Porch talking with Hermon, who is the home owner the Temp was 88 at 11 am. And it was worse in the afternoon sun. We adopted a family of 3 from Ohio that has come to Work camp by themselves. It is great to be able to be including them in our daily operations. Ok my computer time is up. Good Night from KY. When Pastor get a computer back he will be posting pics
Day 1
Hey Everybody!!!!
Day 1 was awesome. We had to drive like a half hour away just to get to our worksite. Our job for today and tomorrow is to roof a lady's house. We got to work at about 10am and at about 11am we figured out we didnt have enough tools for everyone to work. So Bud, Bonna and I drove another half hour back to camp to get 2 more ladders, like 5 drills and some other random tools. In Bud's tiny van the ladders seemed huge and had to be put on top of the seats right next to our heads. It was pretty scary. When we got back to the job site and the rest of our group had the wood laid down and were eating. Then they started putting the roof on as a couple of us started the other side of the house. Thats about as far as we got when we ran out of supplies. So we came back 2 hours early just to hang out.
More to come

Great Day
Today was our first day and we are off to a great start. My group was able to get about half a roof on while waiting for most of our drills to charge. The other group was equally successful. We are both hoping to finish tomarrow and finish a deck in the shade by the end of the week. Family and friends at home are in our prayers.
